About

Alison Low Madigan is a London-based artist working primarily in print, ceramics and collage. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, International Print Exhibition at Bankside Gallery and other galleries in London, as well as in New Zealand, where she was an artist in residence at the renowned Driving Creek Pottery Studio. She is also a community gardener and writer of haikus.

Slinking shadows, water ripples and city streets

The starting point for much of her work is drawn from details around her – a twist of shadow, a reflection in water or on rain-slicked pavements.

Many of her prints are photopolymer etchings, a process that allows her to transform photographic images into inked plates via ultraviolet light. She experiments also  with cyanotype, drypoint, painting and collage.

Her ceramics are hand-built and fired in electric, gas and wood-fired kilns. Inspired by organic shapes, they are designed to be used and enjoyed in daily life.
